OUR STORY

Christina and Kim first crossed paths at the Carmel Bach Festival in the summer of 2017, singing together as the soprano and mezzo in the Virginia Best Adams quartet. Their musical connection grew over the years through various projects, but it was during the pandemic that they stumbled upon a deeper artistic kinship—a shared love of ornamentation, improvisation, and reimagining everything from medieval chant and madrigals to monody and Mozart. What began as a series of exploratory conversations and virtual collaborations soon evolved into Filigree Ensemble.

This spirit of creative autonomy extends beyond their approach to historical repertoire. Filigree is equally devoted to championing new music, forging a dialogue between past and present. The ensemble’s mission is to bring contemporary works to life while offering fresh, personal interpretations of early music traditions.

Since its debut in 2022, Filigree has been featured in concerts for Gotham Early Music Midtown Concerts, ARTEK Early Music, the Brick Presbyterian Church Concert Series, and the Kindred Spirits Concert Series, alongside self-produced performances in New York City and Boston. In 2025, the ensemble will premiere its first commission and embark on its first residency with the Five Cities Baroque Festival.
